How long is the race and where is it?
The race is 3.1 miles long (5K) of amazing illuminating fun! The race begins at 8:30pm on September 20th, 2014 at Heritage Park in Simpsonville. For more information on how to find Heritage Park, Click Here.
Is there a limited number of runners allowed at Illuminating Hope 5k?
All registrants will be able to race, however, late registrants will not be guaranteed a free race shirt. We encourage you to register as soon as possible to receive all of the benefits of the race.
Is the event timed?
The Illuminating Hope 5k is not a timed event. Runners and Walkers tend to take their time out there and we realized only a few people really care about their speed. There are plenty of other great 5ks out there to test speed and performance. Illuminating Hope 5k event is all about having fun with friends and family while illuminating on the course and supporting a great cause. You can run, walk, crawl, or dance if you wish. We suggest self-timing for anyone desiring a finish time.
Are walkers are welcome at Illuminating Hope 5k?
Of course, this event has hundreds of walkers participate! We do ask that walkers please start at the back of the line.
Are strollers allowed at Illuminating Hope 5k?
Yes strollers are welcome. We just ask that you please start at the back of the line for everyone's safety. There are parts of the course that are rough and may not be conducive to a regular stroller as this is a true “cross country” 5K. We recommend off-trail strollers and carriers.
Are dogs allowed at Illuminating Hope 5k?
No dogs are allowed at Illuminating Hope 5K in the race or on the field.
Is there an age limit at Illuminating Hope 5k?
No there is no age limit. Runners age 7 and under are free. Runners age 8 and up must be registered to participate in the race.
What is included with my Illuminating Hope 5K Registration?
Participants receive a custom Illuminating Hope 5k t-shirt, illuminating swag, and race bib. There will be additional illuminating items available at the race for participants and non-participants. We also encourage our racers to come all decked out with their own décor for an illuminating night of fun!

What do I need to bring with me to pickup my packet?
You will need to print and bring your confirmation ticket as well as an ID. Anyone under the age of 18 is not required to show ID as long they have the confirmation ticket.
Can someone else pickup my race packet for me?
Yes they are welcome to pickup your packet for you. They will need a copy of your confirmation ticket in order to pick it up.
Can friends and family attend the after party even if they did not participate in the race?
Yes friends and family are welcome to join you at the after party and enjoy the post-race entertainment and fun, however, they must purchase an after party ticket in advance or pay at the door. Advance purchase is $5 and $10 at the door. Remember all proceeds to go to support a great cause.
Do I have to wear my Illuminating Hope 5K shirt?
We do encourage you to wear your Illuminating Hope 5k shirt but you are welcome to wear whatever you like. We know that participants can get really creative with costumes and shirts and we don't want to discourage that so please let your creativity run wild. Remember we do have a most illuminating participant award!!
I registered for the Illuminating Hope 5k but now can't participate, can I receive a refund?
Sorry but unfortunately, we can't issue refunds for Illuminating Hope 5k. If you can't make it to the run you can still pickup your packet and shirt. Consider it a way to bless the children of Nicaragua with your support!
I registered but now I can't participate, can I transfer my registration to someone else?
Sorry but unfortunately, we can't transfer registrations to anyone else for Illuminating Hope 5k. Please encourage your friends and family to register anyway to support this great cause!
Is there a charity partner for Illuminating Hope 5k?
Yes… ALL of the proceeds from this event go to support the innocent children of Nicaragua. EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR goes directly to supporting the mininstries which help the kids every day in that country!
